The Glorious Race

CHAPTER 1

REINCARNATION & THE LAWS OF PHYSICS

The scene was set in a familiar Canadian Television studio. Grouped on either side of the moderator, the panel members sat sipping coffee while discussing the subject under review - "Reincarnation".

To the left of the screen, in the "pro." reincarnation group, a young girl, while under the influence of retrogressive hypnosis, had apparently recalled vivid experiences in past lives, giving names, dates and details as far back as 400 A.D. At this time she remembered being a young negress who watched her tribe dying one by one as disease had swept the area, 'till finally she too had succumbed to the fatal sickness.

In another episode, this time occurring in the mid-nineteenth century, the girl claimed that she had lived and married on an Ontario farm not too far from her present hometown. After this episode, the young lady and her father had gone to the place mentioned, and an elderly resident, plus old town records had confirmed the dates and names which had been described in the trance.

To the late night television audience the effect was quite mysterious and spine tingling.

On the dissenting side of the discussion was a prominent Canadian Psychiatrist whose comments were, in effect, as impressive as the young ladies' performance might be. I say she is hysterical. Science has proven conclusively that chromosomes and genes cannot carry memory. Therefore, as a scientist I say she is mistaken; for if her memories are authentic then the known laws of physics can be tossed into the garbage can - "the basis of our scientific reckoning is void".

At the close of the programme the issue remained unsettled. The moderator was sceptic and the opponents were each quite positive that the other was mistaken ... yet they were both wrong, and again, both partly right.

Acceptance of the existence of the third mind, a range of vibratory thought not bound by physical limitations, would have solved this enigma. In fact, the girl's preconscious mind, her natural memory storehouse, had simply been bypassed; had gone to sleep under "hypnotic" influence, while her conscious mind was borrowed by the thought frequency of spiritual people who had lived on Earth long ago - "yet still retained earthly memory in their new dimension". Vacating one's senses to temporarily accommodate another tenant is a readily accepted practice in psychic circles with no suggestion of reincarnation involved. Alien tenancy was illustrated by the detailed description that issued from the girl's lips when she was acting as a medium. In loaning her senses to these spiritual people, the girl became these people insofar as conscious thought was concerned; thus it was quite reasonable for her group to suppose that she had been reincarnated. A common conclusion reached on similar instances of this kind.

According to material fact the scientist was also perfectly correct in his reasoning; memory cannot be transmitted genetically. The limited scope of physical law which concerns itself with the material structure of carnal creation, has only to admit the most logical conclusion of them all; that beyond the known atomical realm lies the realm of vibration; boundless energy; all knowledge; which has no natural limitations. Upon this base these two opponents could have been harnessed in constructive harmony, rather than deadlocked in disagreement.

Instead of ignoring the possibility of supernatural forces on the grounds that they cannot be measured in terms that Western minds believe to be foolproof evidences, let those who boast of breadth of vision try a new approach, mathematically sound, yet breathtaking in scope ... unbiased investigation..

Einstein was troubled by the idea that science seemed determined to reduce universal mysteries to cool equations; musing that it would be forever inadequate, rather like trying to represent a Beethoven symphony in terms of air pressure curves. His thinking rose above that of fellow intellectuals. In admitting that his theory of relativity came from 'instinct' rather than arithmetic, this great man humbly acknowledged the vast world beyond the known finite world of physics. To crack the steely armour of scornful ego is the first prerequisite of comprehension. Humility is the key to wisdom.

To adherents of the Reincarnation Theory, the prospect of further chances, with compensatory and sublimatory factors to balance present life virtues and vices is a consoling and most practical theory. True reincarnation has happened but once in the entire history of our globe, and what may be termed semi-reincarnation is sufficiently rare to make it of little consequence to the average person, and certainly not desirable.

The oft maligned art of mediumship, by far the most commonly mistaken supernatural manifestation is not reincarnation in any sense, merely co-operation between two minds existing in different dimensions. Many prominent people have spoken of experiences such as going to a strange country and experiencing the sensation of having been there before; not an unusual occurrence, often leading to the mistaken belief that in another physical body this particular terrain has been traversed before.

Actually, each human being on Earth has a guide. An angelic advisor on the far side of the tissue barrier, whose sole function is to assist its carnal bound assignee. These immortals are so selected that their particular strength counterbalances the genetic and environmental weaknesses of the assignee. Normally these errors are ones to which they, themselves succumbed during life on Earth, and overcame through the later process of remorse, thus developing a stronger faculty to combat similar problems for their charges.

Loliad illustrated this fact by portraying Deity as radiating a descending octave of thought energy from heaven to Earth. This link twixt Creator and created remains unbroken, though lengthening in waves, as it speeds downwards through seven levels of spiritual guides, until it reaches the lowest tone in the scale, the carnal bound spiritual entity, where, if fixed preconceived ideas hold the physical mind rigid, true reception of the original thought message is precluded.

Hypnosis, and mediumship trances, common methods used to blank out the natural intellect, break down the guy wires harnessing the spiritual mind allowing free communication with a guide. After death when a spiritual entity moves to the cosmic "anteroom" to play out its memory of natural life; the mind of a subject in trance can be linked to the mind of a departed one higher up the octave by the subject's guide. This is done for the specific reason of teaching a lesson particularly needful to the subject to speed his own spiritual progress.

Numerous cases of this kind have been recorded under controlled situations, but sensation seeking devotees, more eager to assimilate knowledge of the past than to probe inward, fail to recognize the personal spiritual lesson applicable to themselves.

For example; one case history showed a dozen or more lessons directed towards the elimination of fear of pain. The spiritual person in the cosmic anteroom told how, as a messenger-slave for an ancient civilization, he had messages written on his back, then branded off when he had completed his journey of delivery. The guide was trying to show that this fear must be constantly re-enacted in afterlife in order to demonstrate the futility of fear, both in this world and the next, sheer waste of precious energy. Out of fifty apparently differing hypnotic experiences there may be only two or three specific lessons being taught. Widely varying situations, perhaps a dozen or more, each illustrating one facet of the subject's spiritual weakness, are designed to bypass ego and get an idea across as tenderly as possible. Deep meditation and spiritual dreams serve exactly the same purpose, once a person learns to know their guide and shows willingness to accept guidance. Failure to profit from these experiences comes about when ego tries to colour the conscious recollection to make it palatable, even when the true picture being shewn is invariably distasteful to ego. Unbiased interpretation of spiritual dreams usually provokes hot denials from a subject ... "On the contrary, rather than having a secret feeling of superiority", he might exclaim "I feel inferior to many people whom I know" ... But how is it possible to feel inferior to some without feeling superior to others? Equality of spirited beings is the only basis for evaluation, differences between people are merely a myth of ego's imagination.

It can quite readily be seen that the cosmic anteroom harbours many arrogant and princely personalities from the past, all ready to be used for illustrative purposes by an experienced guide.

The foregoing explanation might help to explain the eastern philosophy of the Law of Karma. Karmic Law, while essentially sound, is open to wide areas of human misinterpretation. Briefly it is the Buddhist belief concerning the accumulation of spiritual merit and demerit according to Earthly conduct. This ledger sheet is balanced by a series of lives in succeeding physical bodies with the spiritual entity going up and down a scale of values according to the effort expended. Karmic Law fails to take into consideration the environment into which a child is born and the infant's inherent genetic capacity. Thus it denies perfect justice and equality of opportunity; rather suggesting that a baby could enter this world with either a spiritual millstone around its neck or the proverbial silver spoon in its mouth, helped or harried by a former tenancy, harassed by the bonds of retribution.

To illustrate the impracticability of this Law of Compensation, take the case of the husband who frequently goes out gallivanting and brings home to his wife a gift or box of chocolates as a compensatory measure: or the mother who unconsciously overindulges her child in an effort to compensate for other maternal negligence.

This attempt to equalise right and wrong serves only to cloud the issue. It relieves guilt feelings, and to some degree affords self justification for the transgressor. But it only increases the frustration experienced by the innocent party who wants no substitution for genuine warmth and consideration. A truly considerate husband would curtail his excursions and the sincere mother give genuine love and guidance to her child rather than some worthless bauble, thereby eliminating any need for the outmoded practice of compensation and counter compensation ... no more an eye for an eye.

While in the early days of mankind's spiritual development this concept of an eye-for-an-eye-kind-of-justice was the best that man could hope to comprehend, the advent of the Christian Era should have put an end to this inferior logic. Contemplate the futility of that comforting compensatory concept that swift passage through purgatory can be purchased for cash - "implying that heaven is more readily available to the highest bidder ... "

The Law of Him-Whose-Glory-is-Loving, is the Law of Eternal Progress, until the ultimate goal of at-one-ment in thought with The Master is achieved. There is no possibility of retrogression, but freedom from error is a necessary prerequisite for ascension to the next plane of enlightenment.

Once freed of the flesh, reparation is sometimes achieved by striving to direct others prone to similar faults to one's own former self. It follows too that a guide's former strong points are also available to the person under guidance, if the subject is willing to listen. Thus we find certain infant progenies who in later life fail to live up to their original promise, when natural facts so clutter the mind that spiritual frequencies, freely available in youth, are blocked out by intellect; for the angelic thought vibrations must necessarily be translated and transmitted through the conscious mind of the receiver. The less network of preconceived ideas to be transversed, the simpler and clearer the reception. It is rather like having many pegs in the cranial pegboard, deflecting energy waves being shone like a light across the board from the rear to the front of the mind.

Failure of the earthbound assignee to accept advice from a guide is the only stumbling block. For though the physical material may be frail, the spiritual element lacks nothing and is motivated by the desire to promote human progress, thus serving Universal Will.

As the carnal thought progress ebbs in strength, many older people are aware of a guiding hand but refrain from mentioning their certain knowledge to younger folks simply because they know that the young human specimen, hampered by invincible ignorance and faith in the material world could not hope to comprehend spiritual thought; nor is it easy to explain astral impulses in terms of earthly language.

The very young also accept invisible companions without question, often knowing this friend by name; 'till parental censure insists the companion isn't really there.

Just a few days ago an acquaintance was explaining how her four year old granddaughter had recently confided that her young brother who had died several months previously, was getting along very well in heaven. The little girl told how her brother had learned to jump and run; activities that were impossible on earth owing to his condition. The lady in question was quite alarmed that the child should imagine these events with such vivid detail.

When young minds are unfettered by preconceived ideas, and joined in loving harmony with another, physical boundaries present no obstacle to communication. Children do not question the reality of contact or try to pigeon hole the whys and wherefores of how it happens.

Certain forms of mental illness produce symptoms technically termed "Auditory hallucinations" and "Visual Hallucinations", when the mind is swamped with incomprehensible messages that eye and ear have not relayed. In most of these cases however, gross distortion of the original spiritual thought registers on the patient, owing to the fact that the adult preconscious, often guilt-ridden, forms its own translation of the impulses received.

The third mind or frequency range, when confined to the tissue, has no power of memory or facility for storing knowledge. It operates on a scale far above that of the natural mind. Thus, to teach it's animal counterpart, it can only utilize those memories which are stored away in the preconscious mind. If these impressions are dark and fearsome, the spiritual mind has no recourse but to demonstrate with such thoughts. Whereas if the animal mind is happy and bright the third mind can use these same impressions to teach, most frequently in spiritual dreams. For this reason it is imperative that the thought process be sanitized prior to attempted meditation or the results could be quite horrifying.

Much of our most delightful children's fiction has basis in fact. "Peter Pan", "The Little Match Girl", "Water Babies", and many others which came at a time when inhuman treatment of children was commonplace, serve to illustrate the tenderness with which The Master makes the initial transition a beautiful wish come true. The death and initial afterlife of children is vividly portrayed in this type of tale and demonstrates His incredible capacity to contact all levels of intelligence.

Transition will be fully dealt with in a later chapter; these points are brought out here to show how, to the listener, astral knowledge can be passed back across the veil, that the earth bound may benefit from the experiences of those who have gone before and be spared much suffering. Most artistic people rely on an inner power for inspiration. Many deep thinkers, Milton, the Lambs, John Addington Symonds, etc., shared a common heritage of physical infirmity, and by this pathway transcended intelligence to perception. In such manner, much of our literature has been born, stories conceived with spiritual insight, whispered by an angelic ray of thought to a mind uncomplicated by cynicism.

This system of communication is learned first by generating emotion heavenwards, in progressing degrees of fervour until the essential wattage for reception is attained. The circular transmission then builds up through deeper emotional reaction, which is always returned in overflowing measure.

To the many people who, observing the letter of religious obligation, look upon Spirit as apart from daily living, a somewhat dull and lacklustre duty; meditation, (as translated by the physical mind) will doubtless confirm all that the intelligence suspects. To the vibrant adventurer, astral travel can stimulate the mind beyond credulence. But best of all, is to strip away the thick skin of adult sophistication and go first, as a little child to the circus and humbly stumble upon joy incomprehensible.

Everyone is born with a freely available supply of inner power. This power can be increased with the years rather than diminished once mankind has learned to combat the destructive force of cynicism, then mankind can emerge A GLORIOUS RACE.

One pure ray of spirit to each newly born babe: That is the ratio; and to each spirit struggling with the flesh, one devoted guardian angel, who in turn is tuned into the frequency of its fellows on further planes of enlightenment and can make their impulses available to his assignee. Thus it is possible to transmit thought vibrations right across the globe - even across the Universe.

Technically it could be said that humanity has five carnal senses, plus, since the time of "Adam" a built in spiritual receiver and transmitter. The Master's gift of extra sensory perception. This inner power can be dimmed almost to extinction by total reliance on the carnal senses which mock the thought of super-sense: or developed to an amazing degree, according to usage, and helped by certain favourable magnetic factors. This permits perception into areas which would normally confound the intelligence.

But this is not reincarnation in any form.

Semi-reincarnation is connected with infant mortality occurring before any established thought pattern has been registered on the aura; no alteration of individual personality is involved.

Throughout the whole history of our globe true reincarnation has happened only once. This was when the Prince of Heaven, in obedience to Divine Will, paid a second visit to earth in a newly born physical body approximately five hundred and seventy one years after his first fleshy home had been destroyed. The second trip was necessary for two reasons.

1. Divine Covenant is inviolable. The Bible and other Holy Books record the Master's instructions and promises. Not one jot of His Word shall go unfulfilled.

From Genesis we learn that God made an agreement with Abraham. Deity commanded Abraham to cease functioning on his natural intelligence and live in simple obedience to Spirit. When, by preparing to sacrifice his son in response to Divine direction, Abraham proved himself to be an obedient and willing servant it was promised ... "ln thy seed shall all nations be blessed". No single messenger could possibly illuminate all facets of Omnipotence in his natural lifetime, and even if this were possible, consider the time element and inequality of spiritual opportunity involved. Throughout the centuries the chosen race displayed consistent waywardness, used their gifted brilliance for personal gain despite a steady stream of patient guidance. So it came to pass that Abraham had two sons. Ishmael, born of Hagar; and Isaac, son of the aging Sarah. Poor Sarah, felled by the onslaught of fierce maternal pride - woman's ever present weakness, sought to eliminate Abraham's first born. But who can circumvent The Master Plan? Spirit comforted the banished Hagar, protected the young mother and her son when by all physical reasoning they should have perished in the wilderness of Beer-sheba. In her darkest hour, Hagar heard the voice of her angelic advisor calling - "Fear not, for the Lord is with you and will make of your son a great nation" ... and another covenant was sealed. Supreme Being sent His Emissary first to the chosen ones, the seed of Isaac; then to the line of Ishmael.

The second child was called Muhammad; his father died before he was born, his mother followed a few years later. The devoted grandfather who had shaped Muhammad's early childhood, passed over when he was nine years old. From this time forward the lad earned his keep as a sheepherder while his spiritual guide proceeded with his education, making sure he was subjected to lessons in Christianity, for the physical mind was not yet aware of the spiritual heritage of its counterpart.

Arabia at this time was a lawless, licentious land ... carnality flourished. Amidst murder, orgy, social injustice and inequality, Meccan shrines dedicated to the various gods of the Bedouins (one for each day of the year) coined fat revenues for miracle-hungry idolaters. Among these numerous demi-deities was one called Allah.

One night, as the young Muhammad mediated in a cave near Mecca, his spiritual mind gained ascendency, then as this theochristic frequency burst through the preconscious barrier a voice called out from heaven "Thou art chosen". With a passionate cry, Muhammad acknowledged Truth... "La ilaha illa Allah!" There is no God but Allah, the Living, the Eternal.

After many further years of preparation and meditation, Muhammad began teaching against incalculable obstacles. He pressed stringent moral reforms upon uninhibited pagans. He fought inequality in a society riven with class distinction, teaching that all men were alike in the eyes of God. He infuriated the wealthy priesthood with his irrevocable truth "La ilaha illa Allah!"

At first nobody paid much attention to the "Possessed" camel driver. Later, when derision proved to be an ineffectual method for the denial of God's word, the populace turned to open persecution (ego's familiar pattern). For years Muhammad and his faithful few suffered every indignity that carnal mind could machinate; but at the time of his death in 632 A.D., he virtually controlled a United Arabia. Attempts to deify Muhammad were firmly quashed by his personally trained successor ... "If there are any among you who worship Muhammad he is dead; but if it is God you worship, He lives forever!"

Islam is the correct title of Muhammad's group ... it originates from the verb aslama "to submit". The common error of using the expression Mohammedism is offensive, giving the impression that Islam focuses around the man, instead of God. The word Islam fully translated means "the perfect peace that comes when one's life is surrendered to God".

The mere fact of different external contingencies required slight variations in teaching to best suit local conditions existing in Arabia at the time. Basically Islam and Christianity are one together with Judaism when that sleeping giant awakens with a blush of introspection. Christ-Muhammad was one in thought with the Master; such at-one-ment must eventually come to each of His Creation.

2. The primary purpose of the Prince of Heaven's first visit to Earth was to broaden mankind's concept of Deity; to demonstrate that the fearsome Jehovah, even the Lord mighty in battle, could also be a God of Love. This heavenly father theme was totally foreign to the Judaic image of the time. Humanities' spiritual understanding took tremendous forward strides under the tutorship of the carpenter's son. Simple obedience to Omnipotence wasn't enough any more. Burnt offerings and respect could no longer suffice when Jehovah the Terrible, became God the Father, and as our Divine Example, Jesus became His son. Thus error crept into mankind's concept of Christ, for every spiritual being of Divine Creation is the offspring of The Almighty. Yet Jesus taught the lesson so well, his aurotic radiation of power and love was so faithfully executed that his followers rapidly became convinced that Jesus was God, and so stood in danger of breaking the supreme first commandment in their ardor, being guilty of idolatry ... "THOU SHALT HAVE NONE OTHER GODS BUT ME".

This danger increased with every successive day of Jesus' earthly life; his influence was so great that three years was the most mankind could bear ... three years of faithful ministry!!! My own Anglican preconscious finger even to this day automatically hits the capital key on the typewriter each time I think of our beloved advocate ... from henceforth, with the deepest respect to the beloved one I shall err no more; for who can wonder at the light of a candle flame burning in the sunlight?

As Muhammad, the Theochristic spirit shielded its aura, diffusing power rather than beaming it, and was thus able to remain among Earthlings for a much longer period of time in an attempt to rectify the error that mankind had made, clarify the confusion.

There can be no compromise with a Monotheistic Deity. The Christ-spirit was of the Master's Creation. Muhammad gave this point special emphasis... almost every page of the Koran cries out with burning fervour "La ilaha illa Allah!" ... "There is no God but He, the Living the Eternal". (ii; 158,255).

Islam honours Jesus as the true prophet of God, accepts the doctrine of the virgin birth - but at the incarnation theory it draws a line ... (iii: 78, xix:93). "When Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, he was thinking of God's fatherhood as embracing all mankind. Every human being was to him as the child of God. The accretions of councils and theologies have carried Christian doctrine a long way from the simple purity of the Nazarene" ...
